POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the supervisor, the Family Prime Time staff is responsible for implementing the daily activities of Family Prime Time. This includes appropriately interacting with adult and child participants, assisting in all areas of Family Prime Time, and ensuring an appealing and safe environment for participants.
This position also treats everyone with courtesy, respect and consideration; displays integrity; listens actively and genuinely; communicates in a clear and pleasant manner; embraces differences among people; demonstrates an active willingness to learn and grow; accepts constructive criticism; works cooperatively as a team member.
Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA is conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Interact positively with the children daily, displaying the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all program activities.
2. Perform specific tasks related to the daily operation of Family Prime Time such as administering small group activities, arts and crafts preparation, and positive discipline strategies.
3. Ensure high quality member service (i.e. greeting families by name).
4. Ensure that children are attended to at all times.
5. Work within the framework, policies, and procedures established by the YMCA.
6. Demonstrate quality standards in Character Development at all times.
7. Be professional, alert and eliminate unsafe practices and physical hazards.
8. Be aware of any child allergies and/or fears through regular communications with parents and staff.
9. Secure sub when unable to fulfill assigned shift and notify supervisor of change and provide ample advance written notice to request time off.
10. Complete accident reports and immediately submit them to the supervisor.
11. Maintain a clean, safe environment by checking all toys, books, and equipment and disposing of anything hazardous.
12. Disinfect counters and tables daily; disinfect toys weekly, or as needed.
13. Assist with keeping cupboards, refrigerator and storage areas clean.
14. Enforce regulations pertaining to food and drink in designated areas only.
15. Vacuum carpet/dust mop daily at the end of your shift, or as needed throughout the day.
16. Adhere to guidelines regarding working in areas that involve supervising your own child(ren).
17. Attend department staff meetings and All-Staff meetings as scheduled.
18. Carry out additional assignments and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
